ABOUT US

The Theatre Guild, Southeast Civic Light Opera and The Childrens' Repertory Company were started in 1994 by Jeff Hathcock, as a way to provide opportunities for children, teens and adults to participate in the Performing Arts.

From an original group of 15 actors, rehearsing in a small, rented room in a dance studio, Hathcock has seen his dream materialize into a thousand-seat theater and casts which now range from 40 to 75 actors in any given show.

The Company is comprised of three distinct entities:

The Theatre Guild - produces dramas and comedies; generally with adult casts, but quite often with teens or younger kids, as well. Some of the more recent productions are: "Jack the Ripper", "Our Town", "Arsenic and Old Lace" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream".

Southeast Civic Light Opera - produces musicals with mixed casts; children and adults. Some of our more recent productions are: "The Music Man", "Once Upon a Mattress", "The Sound of Music", "Lil' Abner" and "The Wizard of Oz.

Childrens' Repertory Company - produces childrens' shows, such as: "Alice in Wonderland", "The Jungle Book", "Babes in Toyland" and "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs".

The Company currently produces five shows per year; two in the spring, one in the summer and two in the fall.

THE LIBERTY THEATRE

This historic old theater was the setting for George C. Scott's speech as General Patton in front of the American Flag in the motion picture "Patton". Built in 1942 as a USO theater, the Liberty is the last of the old "shoe box" style theaters; which were known for their fantastic acoustics. Originally seating 1,040, the Liberty now seats 904, with the creation of a lobby and a larger stage, with a 39' proscenium. Recent restorations include a new sound system, new lighting system, new seats, new carpet and large murals on the walls. She is available for special events. Contact the Theatre Guild for more information. The grand old Liberty is a beautiful sight and we are proud of her!
